Butter
For the
Skin: Shea Butter oil is like food for the skin containing Vitamins A,
E and F. Vitamins A and E help the skin keep itself healthy. These vitamins are
especially important when it comes to helping sun damaged skin heal. Vitamins
A, E and F assist in staving off premature wrinkles and facial lines. Vitamin F
serves to protect the skin as well as help it heal. It soothes rough, dry or
chapped skin and helps soften dry or damaged hair.
In addition: Shea Butter oil is a
natural anti-inflammatory making it useful in treating things like rheumatism
and any other inflammatory dis-ease.
Why is this such an amazing Skin
Oil? Because of the combination in which it is mixed. There is no heavy oil to
cancel out the benefits of the lighter oil (which is what happens with many oil
mixtures). Therfore, it gets perfectly absorbed by skin and leaves no traces of
an oily feel.
Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) is a
botanical extract of the seed of the jojoba tree (Simmondsia chinenis). Jojoba
oil is easily absorbed by skin and does not leave any unpleasant oily feeling
or oily residue.
What’s interesting about it is
that it isn’t actually an oil, but rather what they call a wax ester. Why do we
care? Because out of all of the compounds in nature, this wax ester is the most
similar to human skin oil (sebum). It is theorized that applying jojoba to the
skin can “trick” the skin into thinking it is producing enough oil, thus
balancing oil production. The bottom line for us is that jojoba oil is
non-comedogenic so we can use it without fear.
